FASHION | FABULOUS FIFTIES

New Look, Christian Dior 1947

Hi everyone!
I've been to the exhibition which I talked about in my previous post:
the Fabulous Fifties. It was a-ma-zing! There were a couple of halls
and every hall showed a different aspect of the fashion during the fifties.
The outfits looked so elegant and feminine, it's a great inspiration for me.
I would really recommand this exhibition  to anyone who is interested in
fashion or the fifties.

By the way, yesterday I started a facebook page about my photography:
Gotcha Photography. Take a look if you want, and click on the 'Like' button
here on the right side of my blog! You would make me very happy! :)

EXHIBITION FABULOUS FIFTIES + SOME NEWS

Hey everyone!
It has been a while since my last post. The last couple of months a lot has changed in my life.
I decided to quit my study Graphic Design and Illustration.. It was a difficult dicision, but also
a good one. I love being creative, but it's not always easy with the pressure on it. I also missed
my previous study, so I decided to go back there and finish it. But that doesn't mean I'm going
to stop being creative. Contrary, I really want to keep on drawing and photographing for fun!
So that will be the new goal of this blog: to keep me stimulated and motivated to go on. I also
want to be aware of what you guys are doing :) Thanks to the people who kept sending me
messages these months! I'm really going to miss my friends in Groningen, the city where I
studied. But I'm also happy to go back to Amsterdam next year, my favorite city!

And for the Dutch readers, I saw on Elle.nl today that there's an amazing exhibition coming:
Fabulous Fifties. It's about fashion and fashion icons during the fifties ánd fashion nowaways
that's inspired by the fifties. It will be exhibited in The Hague, in the Gemeentemuseum, from
6 October to 13 February. I'm definitely going! What about you? Let me know!

Hey everyone!
For the subject Graphic Design I have to make my own calendar.
I have chosen for the theme fifties (ofcourse) and I would like to
show  you a preview of what I've been working on!
This is a shoot with my sister in the lead. I wanted to imitate the
women from the fifties, with beautiful dresses and nice hair.
Within two weeks I have to finish this project, and then

INSPIRATION | MY SISTER VOLUNTEERING IN SOUTH AFRICA

Hey everyone! In my previous post I already announced that I wanted to write a post about my sister Lotte.
The past two months she was a volunteer in Durban, South Africa. She worked at a project in an orphan house. I really want to share her story with you, because it's a story worth telling. She's only 18 years old, but did something so important for people at the other side of the world. I hope you will take the time to read this. There were a lot of pictures, and it was hard to make a selection, because all the photos are so beautiful. I'm starting with a few now, and if you're interested you can see more by clicking on READMORE. There you can also read the interview with my sister!  I hope you'll enjoy and that it will inspire you.

NEW IN | SUMMER LOVIN'

Hey everyone! I was very busy this weekend, so I didn't have much
time for blogging. The reason I was so busy was because my sister
came back from South Africa yesterday! She worked the past two
months as a volunteer in an orphan house. I'm glad she's back now,
because I missed her a lot.

In my previous post I already announced I was going to Amsterdam
to see a friend. Ofcourse we did some shopping there! And here are
my two newest acquistions! A beautiful red bag and a golden necklace.
I'm bought both items at the H&M.
Because my friend had her birthday two weeks earlier, I decided to make
a birthday card myself. I painted her and me with watercolour paint.
You can see the result below.

And about my sister.. I will dedicade my next post to her. I'm
very proud of what she did in South Africa. Inspiration is an important
subject on my blog, so I would love to make her an example of that!

INSPIRATION | ERIKA IRIS SIMMONS

Hey everyone! This time I wanted to show you work of another artist: Erika Iris Simmons.
Her work is very inspirational and unique, because she made all this work with film from
recycled cassette tapes and old film reels. I've never seen something like this before! It's
amazing how much details you can still make with this material! Not only uses she this
material, she also makes art with music sheets, labels and other materials. If you're curious
about that, I would definitely google her! The first one of Audrey Hepburn is my favorite,
but maybe I'm a little prejudiced, because she's such a beautiful and inspirational woman.
I'm getting ready now, because I'm going to Amsterdam to see a friend I haven't seen for
for a long time! Im really looking forward to it. I'll be back tomorrow.

INSPIRATION | AGNES CECILE

Wauw! Aren't these paintings amazing?
The artist who made them is Agnes Cecile.
When I saw these paintings, I fell in love immediately.
I can't decribe how much they appeal to me.
They look so soft, fresh and tender at the same time.
The artist painted it with watercolour paint, and personally
I like this way more than any other sort of paint, so I'm
definitely going to try this at home!
In the video below you can see in high speed how she
paints it! I have to warn you, once you start watching,
it's hard to stop. What do you think?
